One place – one history

  1. 1791 and 1804

    Jakob Klauser builds the timber chapel on the Tussetberg. The first stone chapel follows in 1804.

  2. The expulsion

    The Bohemian Forest Germans leave their homeland. The chapel falls into ruin.

  3. 1983

    Reconstruction begins in the twinned municipality of Philippsreut.

  4. 27 July 1985

    Consecration by Franz Xaver Eder, Bishop of Passau.

to the website of the new Tusset Chapel, dedicated to its late builder Emil Weber of Uhingen, born in Filz in the Bohemian Forest

The new Tusset Chapel was consecrated on 27 July 1985 by Franz Xaver Eder, Bishop of Passau. Forty years after the expulsion, it had proved possible to build the new Tusset Chapel in the twinned municipality of Philippsreut – close to the border of the Bohemian Forest Germans’ homeland – in a beautiful and dignified spot with a view into the Bohemian Forest.

Three years of building work were needed to rebuild the chapel faithfully to the original. Emil Weber, the community representative for Obermoldau, rendered great service to this memorial.
